What goals will you be working toward in September...

While there is no specific profile of the people with hardships of self-esteem. There are attributes and habits that can be worked on for a measurable increase in esteem issues-there are things you can do about ingrained patterns and cycles. Challenges and boundaries are two, another is letting go of past mistakes. I concluded that 'mistakes' might not be a great question for the week because if you are working on not reliving past mistakes and considering the past as a learning experience. Rather than promising yourself that you’ll never make the same mistake again (too much pressure), you need to be willing to learn from what happened and be on your toes for situations that might put you in the same position again. Jessica or one of you may be able to phrase the question so as to be non-threatening, and in a way that does not cause any wound picking but reflection.

I'll just go on to the next attribute to be worked on: Goal setting.

What goals will you be working toward in September, what rewards do you have planned for yourself as each goal is achieved?

Goal 1- Every other Wednesday as clothes washing day.
Reward: Teas

Goal 2- Every other Wednesday as the house wash/silver or pot polishing day.
Reward: Something from the jewlery making catalogues

Goal 3-Fall planting and cleanup.
Reward: The composter I've been eyeing.

Goal 4- A blood sugar limit of 110.
Reward:  A day trip

i think you used the right wording - it's not a mistake; it's a learning experience. my dad also says that while you think you made a mistake, it was actually the best decision you could make with the information you had at the time. now you have more information, so of course your hindsight is going to be 20/20. so i guess to augment what you said, mlk, i would add, "what information do you now have about a past event/experience that will help you, should you find yourself in a similar situation in the future?" does that make sense?

that is a very manageable list of goals! i especially like the jewelry-making supplies as a reward (i'm into jewelry making, too). what kind(s) of jewelry do you like to design? i mostly do necklaces, but sometimes i'll do bracelets and earrings. (i could talk about it forever, lol.)

Sure does-Thanks.  We'll use that for next week for letting go of mistakes.

Please share a few of your specific goals and rewards for September?

I'm going to give the goal-setting a try since I find that being specific really helps and having a reward to look forward to is quite motivating!

1. Look up more recipes to meal plan each week so that dinner prep is not stressful and on my mind that specific day as a huge burden. Reward: Candy or chocolate from our stash. (Kids aren't the only ones who can be bribed with candy...)

2. Work out a routine that provides the preschooler with enough social time but doesn't eat too far into housecleaning and relaxing time at home. Reward: Movie from the library.

3. Play learning games or use workbooks with both boys to help their teachers with their academic development. (One preschool, one kindergarten; both can probably use alphabet and number practice at this point.) Reward: Time to do word searches or crosswords, which keeps my brain active!

And now to copy this so I can print it out as a reminder...

I also find myself still shy despite opening up online. It seems easier online and yet also has its own challenges since we don't get to talk face to face or meet over coffee.

MLK - I LOVE how you've set specific goals and rewards!! I may post this question to our board!

As for my September goals, I'm still giving this some thought, but I definitely have to stick to my food plan for my IBS/colitis this month. I've been holding a bit of a pity party for myself and not eating well or taking my meds and it's taking its toll. So my goal will be to get back on board with food, and my reward will be a manicure/pedicure!

Hi again Beth,

For me, things are a tad stressful but otherwise good.

ThanksPhotobucket Paulajae,

Do you know your mailperson's name yet?  What was the name of one of the people who checked you out or waited on you this week? Any other progress this week?

So far I'm on track with goal one.  Making that cup of tea was almost as good as drinking it.  I'm really looking foward to making a small pot next Wednesday.

I'm a little stymied on the planting and cleanup-can't find all my seeds.

The trimmers that I need were borrowed last year by one of the boys.  Excuses about working.  Will unexpected expenses be the next step if I keep on track?

So far BG 35, 7day results.
