After many years on Depo and Mirena...

Ok. Here is the situation. I am 30 and have been on BC since I was 18. I started out on Depo in 2000 and went off in 2006. This took a huge toll on my body and I experienced heavy bleeding and clots for about a month before going to my Dr for help. She suggested Mirena to help with the bleeding. I am on my second Mirena, and love it, but am ready to try and conceive. Is the past problem with heavy bleeding going to occur once again after I have the Mirena removed? Is this going to affect my chances of conceiving? Any advice would be helpful.

Hey kimmi, good to see you around here. There have been a couple of threads about Mirena and Depo lately that provide some general information, but none that address your specific question. I think the question for you to direct to your doctor would be "was the heavy bleeding a result of coming off of Depo or was it something that would have happened regardless?" If it was because of the Depo then maybe not. If it was related to something else going on with your body and that same something else is still occurring then it might return. I think it'd be best if you opened up a dialogue with your doctor about your intention to conceive and your concerns about the heavy bleeding returning.
