Hi.  Has anyone, without children, undergone a tubal ligation or Essure procedure and regretted it?  I'm 36 and I am considering it.  The few people I've spokden to about it are warning me that I will change my mind and regret my decision.

Thoughts?  Experiences?

I think that at your age you fully understand what getting the procedure means so I say if you are completely sure you don't want children, then get it.

I would agree. At your age, you have plenty of life experience under your belt and if this is a decision you are comfortable with, don't let anyone scare you out of it. You may talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of each procedure, there is a definite difference in procedures and the possible side effects afterwards. A tubal does not have side effects that usually affect your period, whereas the Essure procedure does. A tubal may possibly be able to be reversed if you do have a change of heart down the line (though I would double check with that), however the Essure procedure is a permanent option.
