Abnormal pap

Hey ladies....hopefully someone can shed some light on this. I had an abnormal pap come back and my dr. stated it was HSIL - High-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion. Needless to say, I'm pretty freaked out. I've spoke with my sister who's a nurse and she calmed me down a bit by stating it's fairly common in women and the gyno will usually do a procedure to remove the abnormal cells which will most likely clear up the problem.

Has anyone else had HSIL? I'm pretty scared right now.

Hi there! My PAP was HSGIL. I had biopsies done and all came back CIN3. ECC was positive from CIN3 and one of the regular biopsies said endocercival gland involvement. Having a LEEP this Wednesday under general anesthesia.

Any updates on your situation?

Hi and welcome!

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I've also had an abnormal pap and was super freaked out. Mine was caused by the HPV virus, also known as genital warts. I had them on my cervix. The doctor performed a Colposcopy and used a laser to remove the warts. This was 15 years ago and I haven't had any problems since then. Abnormal paps are most often caused by HPV and it's really common. Try not to panic. I'm sure your doctor will take care of it!

(((hugs)))
