My birth control stopped working in April, around that time, I experienced some pink spotting and strong cramps. The next month, in May, it was a LITTLE heavier, NOW in June, the bleeding in between my periods is at its heaviest YET. According to my therapist Robin, I've got to switch to a "higher dose" of birth control, as far as I can tell, THAT DOESN'T EXIST! All my GP can do is keep switching the contraceptives around.
I'm afriad this could have negative side effects, such as the return of the diarrhea, vomiting, and extreme nausea that I felt when I began Yasmin for this very problem in the first place. I checked out some other meds as well, such as Dostinex, Ganirelix, Cetrotide, etc. If I believe what I've Googled all would cause the symptoms mentioned above and POSSIBLY make the breakthrough bleeding even WORSE.
I tried something herbal once to help with this, evening primrose, it caused an extreme case of what's known as "soft stools" due to the fact that I was taking an antibiotic for vaginosis at the time as well. I just went for some uirne tests for a UTI and one for glucose too. I didn't even KNOW about the urine glucose test until a day ago, my pharmacist had just told me it was "for infection", nobody informed me about this until I got to the lab yesterday.
Does anyone know what sort of drugs/herbs I should be using to treat my OHSS? I don't want to make myself worse then I already am, but at the same time, I KNOW that if the bleeding develops until full-blown multiple periods by the fall, I could risk the return of my anemia, causing my body to become malnourished and drained from an excess of blood loss.
Looking at the situation more closely, if this IS OHSS, I think it could partially be behind all the weight gain I've experienced over the past few years, along with my psyche meds. I've been eating normally and trying to take off the pounds but it's just NOT WORKING. I still splurge occasionally, the Clubhouse holds monthly barbeques in the summer, I eat at Dairy Queen at my mental health clinic every 2 weeks and Andy will sometimes cook up a less-then-healthy meal.
I simply need ANSWERS, if a cpntraceptive isn't going to control the OHSS then WHAT WILL?
