Double provera period?

I started taking provera to start a period somewhere around cd 80 of my last cycle. I was prescribed 14 days of it and started bleeding on the 12th day (I did finish them though). I bled for 9 days, 4 of them were heavy with lots of clots. Then, 7 days later, I started bleeding again. I have long cycles, not short ones...sometimes I'll spot a lil in between periods, but I've never actually started bleeding again less than 3 weeks after the last period ended. Usually it's more like a month and a half or more later. Has anybody else had this happen? Should I call my doctor?

Hi and welcome! I'd call the doc just to be on the safe side.

Let us know what they say

Hello!

You may want to run it by your doctor but I'm thinking that's just a side effect from using the Provera. It elevates your progesterone and makes your body think you've ovulated. Do you know why you aren't ovulating? That may have to do with the irregular bleeding as well.

I sure hope he can help you. That must be so frustrating! Maybe they could do an ultrasound to see if there is anything unusual. Ovarian cysts can also mess with your cycle. Something is preventing you from ovulating regularly. Have you ever tracked your cycles using your basal body temperature? I used to do it for birth control and then when conceiving my first child. It just involves taking your temperature every morning before you get out of bed and charting it. I good book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Lots of good info for all women!

I've read the book and tried temping, but my temps are all over the place. Maybe just cuz I don't ovulate, but I wake several time most nights and move a lot in my sleep so I'm sure that doesn't help. Plus now I work 3 nights a week so I don't even always sleep the same time of the day. :/ I hope he can help me, or at least help me find a dr that can. Thanks for the input ladies!
