Irregular Periods

So I have been off bc for over a year and having irregular periods, which I'm a bit concerned about because I'd

like to get pregnant in the somewhat near future(next yearish). I am healthy, besides being mildly overweight, but pretty active and eat plenty of

fruits and vegetables, in my late 20s. Anyone else have this issue and found anything homeopathic

or natural to help make them more regular ? Any advice is welcome !

Hi there!

Did you have irregular periods before you started taking the pill?  Though lots of women take the pill to fix their irregular periods, it doesn't actually fix it.  Once coming off, your periods go back to what they were.

I would suggest first charting your cycles.  That will tell you when (or if) you ovulate and what the luteal phase (time between ovulation and menstruation) of your cycle is.  If you have a short luteal phase, that can indicate low progesterone.  If you aren't ovulating, you'll need to see your doctor about that.  It may be that you are ovulating but not at the same time every month.  The chart will also help you pinpoint the best days to acheive pregnancy.  Charts are very helpful!

I recommend a book called, Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  It's extremely helpful.  When I was charting, I used www.fertilityfriend.com to track my cycles.

Hope that helps!
