He just told me. I am panicked. What should I do? How do I know if I have them? How do get rid of them if I have them?

OK, relax, first off go to a drug store and they have a item their for you to wash your body with, I promise if you get them you will know. Anyway, you need to shave your privet part yes shave all the hair, for that is where they make a home, now he might have been with another woman and maybe not. If you sit on the wrong tolit in public you can get crabs, so don'tget rid of him just yet, you can get them from a bed, my husband and I was traveling on the road, we were sales reps and sleep in many motel and hotel beds, we alsways tried to stay in nice motels or hotels. So one night we were in a Best Western in Petersburg, VA and we went to bed and it was not 3 minutes in bed we felt them attacking us, we jumped up and packed our bags told the manager and we drove home to Charlotte and started treating our selfs, cutting all our hair off in and around the crotch area, I started the washing of all our road clothes, you need to make sure if you are home wash all bedding sheets, etc.  Make sure you go to the drug store and buy the Lice Killer and wash everyday for about a week and keep washing bed linen for a week or so and just see if you feel anything crawling on you and if you do keep washing with the Lice killer and keep your hair cut down in you privets and you will get rid of the problem, not fun, but things happen in life. All the best, Rhonda

It always good to be tested for STD's, regardless.  I would talk to your GYN before getting upset with your BF, because I don't know how long you have been together or what your R is.

I say that because first an lice/crab has to find you, lay eggs, then the eggs have to incubate before they hatch.

So just like head lice, I am pretty sure that eventually a household could potentially end up with crabs without sexual activity.

It just takes one little critter to find another person and lay an egg for it be perpetuated.

p.s.  Becareful with medications in the private area.  Read the directions.  Also, you will probably want to treat your entire home, clothes, bedding, etc.  Again, read up on it all.

First of all, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but pubic lice is a STD. So, with that in mind, I would get yourself to your GYN and get tested, because sometimes (not all the times) if you have one STD, you have another. So if it were me, I'd be getting tested for everything under the sun.

You also need to have a chat with your BF, because pubic lice does not *just* appear.

Here's a good link on what the symptoms are: http://www.medicinenet.com/pubic_lice_crabs/page2.htm#what_are_the_signs_and_symptoms_of_pubic_lice

But honestly, I wouldn't even worry with that and just go straight to the GYN.

Good luck to you!!
