Random Heavy Periods with Rectal bleeding. Anybody experienced this?

Recently my husband and I decided to start trying for children and I went off my bc. I was I on Depo for 7 years (yes yes I know your all cringing) I finally went on seasonique lo a couple months before I went off bc completly. Its been about six months since I last took bc and a fews months ago after a cross country drive I noticed I had some rectal bleeding. I assumed since travel might have left me a little constipated I really didnt think much of it. But when it continued I went to the gastro and had a colonoscopy scheduled. Unfortunatly when I found out I was going to have to come out of pocket  600 dollars I was not able to do it. But then I made a connection and noticed that the rectal bleeding always happened around my random periods. It usually would start right before my period and end a little bit after. Several people I talked to about this mentioned endometriosis but it seems the symptoms of that are painful periods etc. I dont have any pain with my periods but they have not been normal since I stopped bc they are random, unpredictable and heavy. Has anybody had this issue? Could it be a Depo side effect? I'm not even sure what doctor I should be going to...gastro, gyno, or primary? Any advice?

Welcome! Is the rectal bleeding with a bowel movement or at random times? I don't have any answers as to what it could be. I assume you've been checked for hemorrhoids, which can flair up with your period. I would start with the gyn. Have you thought about charting your cycles? It involves taking your temperature every morning before you get out of bed and keeping track of it over the month. That will tell you if you are ovulating or not. Check out a book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility. If you aren't ovulating, then your gyn can help you. Restarting ovulation after having it stopped for so long may take some time. I hope you get some answers!
