just wanted to let you all know i had some bloodwork done to see if there was any signs of hormonal imbalance and all came back clear..hemoglobin levels, thryoid(my mom has hyperactive, hence why mine is always tested), all came back normal..only thing that was a SMIDGE low was my B-12 level so doc suggested i pick up a bottle of B-12(250 mcg) and then have another set of bloodwork done before Christmas..apparently B-12 helps with a lot of issues..i do have one question tho..even though the results of my most recent culture for yeast infection came back negative, just a couple of days ago i started getting those tell-tale symptoms again and was VERY tempted to just grab some OTC medication for it..but i didn't as again i wasn't 100% sure that's what it was..however i just did some research on the internet and i heard some talk about yogurt(either eaten or applied to "that" area)as being a good home remedy for yeast infections..now before i go out and try this, can anyone tell me if this is such a good idea..i love yogurt(eating it that is) but applying it to my lady parts, i need some definitive yes or no's on that..thx..:-)

I do not think so.  While some yogurt has "friendly bacteria" others do not.  Plus it may further upset the PH balance.  Not only that but if you are sexually active there is the possibility of you sex partner reinfection you.  Men can get yeast infections and it can grow on the skin and esp the scrotum. men may not know what it is and think they have "jock itch".

I have also read about using yogurt and it was even suggested by my doctor.  As one who suffers from recurring yeast infections, I'm happy to try new things!  I tried it once and just didn't like it.  I had a hard time getting over the fact that I was inserting cows milk into my vagina.  That just seems odd to me.  Plus, it did nothing.

I have found that garlic works fantastic if you can catch the infection early.  Those of us who have had lots of yeast infections, we know the tell tale signs that one is starting.  Peel and insert a clove of garlic before you go to bed.  Leave it in all night.  It will work itself out in the morning or you can take it out yourself.  You may need to do it for a couple nights.  If the infections is a bit farther along, you can try piercing the clove with your finger nail a few times.  This has worked for me!!  As long as I catch it early.  There is a point where it's to far along and I have to grab some cream.

Hope that helps!

well i will leave the yogurt to just eating it then..lol..i must say i have NEVER heard of using a peeled clove of garlic..not sure how i feel about putting something like that up there..my monthly cycle is due to start tomorrow and my friend told me it's not uncommon to get a YI a few days before that shows up..i did look @ some OTC treatments and am confused as to which ones a woman should buy..there's the 1 day, 3 day, 7 day..my friend suggested i just get the 1 day treatment..but they are pretty pricey..i'll check with the pharmacist i deal with and see what they think but ty for your suggestions and help..:-)

As far as the creams, 7 day is best.  That will definitely get rid of the infection.  I used 3 day creams for a long time.  Then I treated one and it came back with a vengence!  Now I only use the 7 day creams.  Don't even bother with the one day creams.  I've read, and experienced myself, a burn like reaction because the medicine is so concentrated.  Plus, the chances of it not clearing the infection completely are pretty high and you'll have to go get a 7 day treatment.  No thanks!
