What to expect when going off the pill?

Hi,

I am 24 and have been on the pill since I was 15 for contraceptive purposes. The whole 9 years of being on the pill I never had any side affects from it, despite switching brands 3 or 4 times over the years. My skin cleared up, my periods were alot lighter and I had very mild cramps during my period. Well I stopped taking them a week ago yesterday once my period was over and I finished that pack, although technically its been two weeks since the last week of the pack is placebo pills.

Anyways I just wanted to know what to expect now that I am off them. Since I have been on them since I was 15 I don't know how my body is naturally really, especially since at 15 your still developing. So far I have had no side affects,if anything my mood has improved slightly, not that the pill made me a grump or anything, but I just feel a little happier then before. I tried searching for info online as to the possible side affects, but all I could really come up with was "every woman is different"

I can tell you what happened with me. I had been on the pill for many years as well, starting in my teen years. I ovulated about 4 weeks after my period stopped. Got my period 2 weeks after that. Then my cycles were a regular 28-30 days. Other than the delayed ovulation, I had no other side effects. Your body has definitely changed over the last several years so it really is impossible to say what will happen. Some women start their cycles again without any issues. Some need medical help starting their cycles again. I think, more times than not, cycles resume with no issues. As far as pregnancy goes, if you ovulate, you can get pregnant. Watch for signs like increased fluid and an increase in your sex drive.

Hope that helps!
