Portion control is really all you can do there. Most traditional dishes for Thanksgiving aren't unhealthy, but the portions most people eat are. Here's the couple of tips I have.

  • Don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach. Start out with a small plate of some turkey and a couple of veggie sides. Remember that if you are truly still hungry, you can always go back for more.
  • Eat slowly, putting your silverware down as you chew and swallow. That gives the food time to hit your stomach so you know when you're actually full.
  • A lot of people associate Thanksgiving with being able to overindulge on food without guilt. Don't do that. Treat it as just another meal, but one you get to share with close family and/or friends.

I hope this helps and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
