Hi Sarah. Your story sounds very familiar- just like mine. We have many similar issues. I used to dream about being skinny, now I dream of being healthy. You are making the hardest step, the first one. Keep it up!

Welcome to the board!

Ech of us is approaching this journey our own way - some of us have tried many different ways. Eating healthier and moving more will work - it takes a lot oif time, but it will get you where you want to be.

Hi Sarah, and welcome to our board!

Since you've been on the boards before, you know how important it is to know that you are not alone and that there are others who are going through the same experience and can be here to offer support, ideas or just a place where you can vent when you're having a bad day.

You're so right about that... the weight didn't come overnight so it won't leave overnight.

Hahaha I think vamp is a word. If it's not, we can make it one! LOL... It's been windy here too, but today it wasn't so bad. I think we reached 77 degrees today, yay! Glad you're doing good.
Hhhmmm spaghetti sounds sooo good! And garlic bread too... I miss carbs. Doctor told me lay off of corn, pasta, bread and rice. But I think I'll have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich later. I've been wanting one, haha.. Or maybe I'll copy off of you and make spaghetti...with whole grain pasta. That sounds really good. :)

I love to work out, so I am in no way discouraging you from walking...but don't be decieved into thinking it burns a huge amount of calories. Tonight I ran for a half hour and it burned a little over 200 calories. Since it takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose a pound, I'd have to run for more than 17 hours to lose one little pound! Exercise is great and does but you a little room to eat a little bit more, but I think you have to be really careful that you don't think walking will give you a big boost.

As far as the water goes, your body may not be used to it and is holding on to the fluid - it might be where you are in your cycle, and it might be sodium in what you are eating - hidden sodium...

Don't give up. Losing one to two pounds a week is normal unless you are on the Biggest Loser and spending your whole day working out and eating in a very very controlled manner.

Fast food is bad in so many ways, but each of us has to reach that realization on our own.

Best wishes
SJ
