For almost 3 years now, we've been out here together, you posting about your work outs and me reading your posts about your work outs and complaining about being stuck at this weight and not wanting to work out, etc.

Using this bike to see how much energy you need to spend to burn XXX number of calories has been an eye-opener.

I have not been eating much at all.

I have been doing about 4 miles (16 laps = 200 calories at my current speed) per day.

Liz,

Yes, I think it is amazing how much effort it takes to burn calories - it was one of the things that helped me cut back on food in the beginnng - realizing that my little bag of chips with lunch was 200 calories - and how long i'd have to bike to burn that off, I'd think 'WOuldn't it be easier to just not eat it?"

I'm glad that I've influenced you this way.

I cannot yet say that I'm "enjoying" it.

Liz you rock!!! and so do you SJ!!! ) I'm so proud of you for taking this step. I know how it feels. I had a friend do the same for me last April when she asked me to join the gym with her. I'm so thankful that I'm going to thank her just like you've thanked SJ. :) HUGS all around!

Wow.1750 is a lot of calories to burn, and I work out a ton. The other day, I did a workout that was a little over three hours--20 miles on my bike and an hour of swimming and that was 1700 calories. Last night I worked out really hard (swim and elliptical) and hit 600 calories in 45 minutes, but that was an intense workout. Kudos to you!

Liz,

One secret is - it's supposed to hurt...part of the calorie burning comes after the workout while your body busies itself repairing and strengthening the muscles you are using.

I'll let you all know how I feel when I've gotten my routine up to a "several" hundred calories per day.

I second the motion!! I've been reading SJ's workouts for years and she motivated me to try harder. I'll never forget when I read she was doing pull ups and so much more. I had always wanted to do a pull up. Well I started trying (this was at least 2 years ago) and today I can do 5 unassisted pull ups thanks to SJ.

You rock SJ!!

By the way Liz- congrats to you and and YAY!!
