I've put a few more pounds back on since my last weigh in.

Oh, one more thing I did was to hang a floor-length mirror in my kitchen.

Liz
The question of 'what does it matter if I lose weight' resonates with me.

I want to weigh less but I want a lot of things I don't have and am not doing anything to get.

The changes that I made for my original weight drop were good in and of themselves - I like going to the gym, eating healthier has saved me money, learning to cook for myself feels like an achievement.

But other things are a loss. I miss eating out. I miss the comfort of food - well not miss because I 've been using it as comfort.

I don't know what I thought the reward would be for losing weight - smaller clothes maybe. But I am not sure I am intrinsically happier.

And yet, I am still trying....probably not hard enough but I do wonder what I would weigh if I gave up all together....

Hang in there

Hi Liz. I know I'm quite a bit behind replying to this thread but something you said sparked a thought in me so I wanted to reply.

You said, "I know exactly what I need to do", and that shows a mindset of feeling like you have to lose weight. Remember, you're not required to do anything about your weight and eating habits as they are right now.

BUT

Obviously part of you wants to lose weight and get healthier so perhaps you should think of it more in terms of what you WANT to do rather than what you NEED or HAVE to do. I'm learning that when trying to break addiction habits, and let's face the fact that most of us are addicted to food, the mindset you have is the single most important element that will make or break your motivation. In order to change YOU, you have to change your MIND.

That's just what I think anyway.

Hi again! I was on the huffington post Health section and found something you Liz might like to read. Really, anyone reading this would benefit from it. The writer says what I was saying in my last post in a much better way! ;-)
