Your thoughts on Fiber?

I've been thinking a lot about foods and how they are processed by the body. Have any of you looked at your fiber levels in your foods? How important is Fiber in your eating plan? Have you ever seen a difference with increased or decreased fiber levels?

I post on the Weight Loss board and today I'm just lurking around looking for something interesting to read.

Fiber is very important to me. In the past year I had colostomy surgery and a reversal. It's very important that I don't get constipated, so I have to make sure I get my fiber. Warning: start slow. If you don't, you will get a lot of discomfort. Some people do that and they end up with so much gas that they say "I can't eat fiber." But everyone needs it. If you add a little bit at a time and increase gradually your body will adjust to it. Beano helps, too.

I will say, I cannot say that fiber has contributed to any weight loss.
