Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jessie. I'm 36 and I live in Florida. Heidi referred me to this board. :) I'm trying to get fit and healthy and with that of course includes losing weight. I have some chronic health issues and losing weight and decreasing sugar in my diet is my goal. I've made the switch from sugar to Splenda for my daily coffee (which is a big deal because I love sugar in coffee) and I'm slowly eliminating sweets and the white carbs from my diet. I've always been an emotional eater and I tend to eat when I'm stressed or bored so this is something I'm working on. It's not easy! I also need to start exercising but I'm focusing first and foremost on improving my diet and eating habits first.

Anyway, that's a bit about me. I look forward to "meeting" everyone. :)

Good Morning Jessie, its so nice to "meet" you.

My name is Tammy and after a while away from the board I am returning. I have to say that you have come a great group of gals that will encourage you all the way through your journey.
A little info about me, I am 32 years old, have a wonderful dh, Mike, of 6 years married and almost 9 years together. We have a terrific dd, Angel, who is 13 and we have a son on the way. We also live in southern Indiana. Heres a little of my story.......After suffering for years with my weight and us both suffering for over 6 years with infertility I met a great group of people on Facebook that taught me about nutrition and fitness. My journey has brought me a long way and my family is benefiting from all my hard work. Before I found out I was pregnant, which was a major shock, I had lost 20 lbs and was still about 20 lbs from my goal weight. I did it all through with the help of my beachbody coach and through clean eating. After being told that my husband and I would probably never have children I just couldnt believe it when our miracle came. I totally contribute it to our lifestyle change. I myself wasnt the problem, it was my dh. After just 3 months of changing eating habits and going on V8 juice our battle finally ended. We now are at about 20 weeks and have a healthy son on the way. I have done my best to keep up with my nutritional changes and have as to date only gained 7 lbs. So, with all of that said, I want you to know that you can do this and you can live a better life because of it.

If you dont mind would you share what kind of health problems you do have? While Im not a dr. I have learned a lot about certain health concerns and love to help people as much as I can. I do have to say that you are off to a great start but I would make one change, you said that you have switched from sugar to splenda.......I have a major problem with splenda because it is totally based on false advertisement. They claim it to be the alternative for diabetics.....well thats all fine and dandy but what they dont tell you is that it goes through such a process while being made that its really no better than sugar. It is an artificial sweetener that your body still has a big problem processing. I would go with all natural agave. What agave is, is a syrup type sweetener, much like honey but sweeter, and its all natural. When you put an all natural product in your body it can be processed much easier and a lot quicker actually than something artificial and full of chemicals. If you dont like to go that route another great option is an all natural sugar that has not gone through all the processing that regular sugar or splenda has gone through. That can be found at any health food store. Also, you want to get away from white carbs......that is awesome, but let me say that when you go to buy the whole wheat options, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the ingredients. A lot of them have high fructose corn syrup in them which is dangerous to a persons health. It, along with a lot of other things, have been directly linked to type 2 diabetes and some types of cancers. Im sorry if I have gone on to much but I have a passion for helping people and seeing them make the best choices. If you need anything please let me know. I would love to see you succeed and reach your goals for an optimum life. Oh before I forget, a great book to read if your interested in learning more about healthy eating is "The Eat Clean Diet Recharged" by Tosca Reno......she is an amazing woman that really knows her stuff.

Hi ladies, thanks for the warm welcome.

Tammy, I have a couple of friends who work are Beachbody coaches. How is Shakeology? Taste good?

I always wondered about the agave syrup. I will pick that up next time I go to the store to see if I like it. Thanks for the recommendation! :)

I look forward to being a part of the board. :)

Hi Jessie, Im so glad you have gotten such a great response here on the board. The women here are so wonderful and just full of support.
Ok as far as beachbody goes, if you have a couple of friends that are coaches I would highly recommend having one as your coach. I was a coach up until October and after my 6 months is up I will probably become one again. The only reason I quit was because I wasnt getting the support from my coach that I needed and than of course I got pregnant and didnt feel I could support my people as I needed to do. So now, about Shakeology, I LOVE IT. It is the most amazing drink I had ever had. I have only had the chocolate and they are coming out with a new one for vegetarians next month. I forget the flavor at the moment, sorry pregnant brain there, but its pink and I hear it is delicious. I wish you all the success in the world and I cant wait to read about all the weight you have lost. Oh and about the agave, its some amazing stuff.....its very sweet and good for you as well!!! Let me know if you need anything dear.....take care!!!
