Looking for some new buddies!

Hello everyone! My name is Misty and I've decided that 2012 is going to be the year I dedicate to improving my future. This includes weight loss, quitting smoking and paying off some long overdue debts.

I lost 30 pounds last year following the South Beach diet and kept it off until I quit smoking for two months later in the year, at which point I gained it all back and a little extra. I picked the cigarettes back up in October but I haven't taken any of the weight back off yet. I'm here to change that. I'm back on South Beach as of today (yesterday technically) and I hope to have even more success with it this go around. I have at least 150 pounds to lose, possibly more but I haven't been that small in years so we'll have to see how I feel when I get there.

I married my best friend almost 3 years ago and have a beautiful 11 year old daughter, both of which are primary reasons for getting healthy. I live in Florida, work full-time as a security guard and am going back to school this summer to pursue a degree in accounting. I love to blog, read, talk to people, take pictures and go to Disney World. I am the CL for Quit Smoking Support so pop in and say hi if you'd like!

So there's my introduction in a nutshell. I look forward to meeting everyone and losing some weight with y'all!

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies! South Beach begins as low/no carbs for the first 2 weeks of it (Phase 1) and then you begin reintroducing good carbs during Phase 2. Brown rice, whole wheat pastas, whole grain breads and oatmeal are all good carbs. The catch is making it through that first phase, which is pretty strict. No carbs, no sugars (not even the natural kind in fruit). Protien, veggies and low fat dairy are the primary foods for Phase 1. I can tell you more if you're interested but I don't want it to seem like a sales pitch, even though I believe in it.

Thanks for the details, Misty. That sounds a lot like what I do when I'm on program. It's amazing how much better I feel when I lose some of my cravings for carbs.
