Just an Update :)

It's almost a year since I've posted, and many things have gone on in that time.  I guess weight-wise, I've gained my weight back, plus about 2-3 pounds.  Not terrible, not great, but decent, I guess, lol.

After I got so busy with my family, I didn't really have time to post, and most of the things I was posting about was about family issues, anyway, not weight loss!  Ha ha!  I was keeping up with some of you on FB, and I haven't even been able to do that! ;-)

I had to come back to wish Congrats to Vanessa!!!  Wishing her all the happiness in the world!  And thanks to Miranda & Carrie, also, for checking up on me. :^)

So what's been going on?  Well.......I had to get a second job, and my uncle (who has dementia) is in a nursing home.  One of my aunts passed in January, and another aunt had major back surgery, and I've been helping with my grandmother, so it's still all work, no play.

I was finally able to get my sinus issues under control in January, but they still pop up whenever it rains.  And cardio apparently opened my pores so much and aggravated my sinus issues, that I had to give up zumba.  I still do it every now and then, but I can't do cardio daily or semi-daily like before, but at least my immune system got better.

I still have rough days, but I still try to make time for myself.  I just need to lose a few pounds to fit *comfortably* in my jeans, lol.  And I think I will start back with yoga.

But I have missed all of you, and wish you all much success on all of your endeavors!  Happy July! :0)

My cousin was telling me yesterday how hard it is to see my uncle in the nursing home this way.  It's been tough, and we've all realized how much he did while he was at home.  It's been a tough year for all of us, and a year since his first episode of dementia.  But we all do what we need to do. :smileyhappy:

Yes, it was fun getting out, and I usually go to places alone, but since I've been working so much, it's hard to "schedule" the time for fun stuff, since I'm usually tired around 11-11:30, lol.  I have a few things set up for August though!

I like your method!!!  For me, it's a lot of saying "yes" and people have gotten spoiled, lol.  Including my immediate family.  That's what makes things so tough, that I have to work and deal with family members, then come home and deal with all the stuff around here!  I will definitely try your method, LBW!

As for my uncle, if he keeps saying that he wants out of the home, I *still* think they might get him out with limited help, and I will probably be "defaulted" to some of his care.  Like I've said, I don't mind doing my part, I just want others to "do their part", too, and for more than 30 minutes, lmao!  But I think he will end up staying in the home since there's just not enough people, but you know never know how things go! Thanks for all of your support!

I like LBW's method too - work your way up to saying no more often! I would really advise taking your uncle out of care, but maybe look at being able to bring him out on passes more often. Dementia can be very unpredictable and brings with it a variety of physical health care issues as well.

Vanessaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!  Congratulations to you and Jamie!  OMG!  Ok.  *Calms down*

It's good to see you and everyone, too.  I've missed all of you guys, and keeping up with your lives, but I'm trying to make an effort to stick around this time.

Miranda, he has been coming out on outings, and the last 2 overnights he had didn't go that great.   And you're right, dementia is really unpredictable, so it's really a lot of day-to-day stuff.  I will keep you posted on the happenings. ;0)

Sooooo, yesterday, I decided to see if I was totally out of shape or what.  Lol.  In the morning, I did a 15 minute zumba session, and last night, I did Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile (15 min.).  So I tried something, & I wasn't too out of shape, lol.  It felt good to do a little something.  I think that I might have to start back with WATP (remember when I was 5 miles a day??), and I think it'll be a good way to get me back into exercising.  (Besides, I have like a million WATP dvds, lol.)

Hey Kristy! I'm glad your checking in! Getting your water in is a great start and certainly something to do in this summer heat! Sounds like you aren't as far off from a great WATP restart as you thought! :smileyhappy:

I'm sorry to hear about your Uncle! Dementia is tough on everyone because like you said the ones that have it don't know what they are asking. I hope that you are able to help but also able to say no if need to.

Great job on the WATP!! I think that's a great way to get back into exercising - especially since you have such a variety of DVDs to go from! LOL

Hope you had a good weekend!

Hi everyone!

I'm still around, just had a few busy weeks, with last week being especially tough, but I'm glad to see that ya'll are still making your goals!

Let's see, what have I been doing?  Well, I threw the kids a "Last Day of Summer" pizza party before the start of school, helped out my cousin, still working, but last weekend I was able to check out Kevin Hart on tour, so that was definitely something different!

Working out?  Ummmm....well.......I think I did WATP 2 days after my last post, then I was trying to do Zumba a bit, but it went to the wayside.  But some inspiration came from seeing recent pictures, lol.  I have a weird shape, and I need to get back on the ball!  I managed to do a 45-minute Zumba + Stretching segment this morning, and I've been drinking my water, so I'm not totally off the boat.

I'm really trying to think positively this month, but there have been times when it was hard to do so, and I'm sure these last 2 weeks of August won't be easy, but I wanna at least have a positive mindset. :0)

Otherwise, I'm still good.  Thanks everyone, for the support! :smileyhappy:
