Miranda's July Journal

Ooooh boy, am I behind! I'ts already the 9th and I'm just starting my July journal!

Anyways, weekend was good - we're having some hot temps (hot for us!) here - about 30-35 degrees celcius which is 85-95 farenheit. So did a lot of work outside - planted my backyard planters, and all my herbs. I found pineapple sage that I'm excited to use, and I'm growing lemongrass this year. Now I just have to figure out how to use it!

I'm trying to follow the FODMAP diet, and so far so good, although there are a few things I'm sad about giving up - apples, onions and mangos. :-(

Found a killer leg workout that I did early Saturday morning over at www.myomytv.com that I'm still feeling this morning - my inner thighs are KILLING me! Which is awesome! I love that site. It has great circuit workouts.

I'm not going to track calories while I'm on this eating plan, because I have to make sure I'm cutting out all the right foods, and still getting all my nutrients in, so I figure I want to concentrate on that right now rather than the calories. I can only track so much LOL

Exercise wise, I'll be working out Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the least. Since I now have Fridays off until the end of August I'll probably fit in a good Friday workout most Fridays too!

Okay, so yesterday was only so-so for eating because I had pasta for dinner which was delish! LOL But the rest of the day I was bang on food wise! And I had a great workout at the gym (legs day - so deadlifts and my leg circuit) so I felt great! And I talked to my girlfriend about my trip to BC and I'll be going out to see her the first week and she's already planning some great stuff for us to do!

Breakfast: Soy Coffee Smoothie
Snack: Grapefruit, Cool LIme Refresher
Lunch: 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 rice cakes with marg, 10 bell pepper strips
Snack: Oatmeal with fresh berries and nuts
Snack: 3 rice cakes, left over bok choy, bite of chicken
Dinner (late): pasta with arrabiatta sauce & italian sausage

Workout: 45 minutes legs

Awwww - congrats on your weight loss Miranda! Out of curiosity - do you guys have CrossFit gyms in Canada? That may be something you'd be interested in...

We do have cross-fit gyms - and I've tried cross fit before and do kind of like it! Some of the workouts I do have some similarities to that - I should check that out again!

Hey Miranda - how was your weekend?

What are the rice cakes? I'm picturing the quaker caramel/apple ones in the store but I couldn't imagine spreading butter on them... lol!

Your workouts always sound amazing. I think it would be fun to do one with you - I can imagine that your a great trainer since you are always so creative and excited about them!

Hey Carrie, the rice cakes are the same as the caramel and apple, but just plain rather than flavored.

And thanks on the comment about my workouts - trust me some are more fun than others! But it is great when you know you've done a workout that does exactly what you wanted it to do!

I'm actually going to sign up to get some personal training for myself in the fall. I've decided that I'm really at a point where I need an extra kick in the pants, and I know the guys from Blitz Conditioning can give me that! LOL

I know my weight really hasn't changed, but all of my summer clothes are falling off me which is good/bad news since I'm going away on Thursday! I did buy a couple of skirts to wear, and I'm not really bothered if my shorts are lose, but I'm going to have to go back through my fall clothes since I'm sure those are going to need some taking in too.

I'm pretty happy with the changes in my body - but I realized how beholden to the scale I am, because even though I'm seeing results in the mirror I'm still kind of disappointed in the changes on the scale. How silly is that?
