Miranda's July Journal

Well June was just a so-so month for me. I didn't keep up with my cardio, and I know my food was up and down. My exercise was a bit down from May but I still burned 4901 calories, and got in 10 hours and 45 minutes. I'm pretty happy wtih that seeing as how there was minimal biking since we had nothing but rain!

So my June goals were:

  • Eat Protein High breakie as per 4-Hour Body book - YES! Either had eggs, or smoothies every day.
  • Cardio days 2x per week - Nope. Did pretty poorly on this. My cardio has pretty much just been my warmup at the gym.
  • Weights 3x per week - Well I was pretty consistent with my workouts, although there was a week here and there where I stuffed it all in at the weekend.
  • Keep off Dairy & Coffee (well keep coffee to an absolute minimum once colitis has died down) - Yup! I've done really well on this, just having the odd cup of coffee on the weekend, and none during the week! And the dairy was easy once I found the egg protein powder.

So my July goals are:

  1. Keep to high protein breakfast
  2. Exercise for 100 minutes per week
  3. Keep off Gluten, Dairy, and coffee (to a minimum)
  4. Complete two weeks of C25K at least

Monday July 4

Calories: 2113 (49% Carbs | 34.2% Fat | 16.8% Prot)

Exercise: 0 Minutes / 0 Miles / 0 Calories

Notes:

For some reason I was really snacky yesterday. I spent all day updating our report and database, so was really just mindlessly snacking. Not totally unhealthy snacks (Soledad almonds, and gluten-free potato puffs) but those snacks added up to almost half of my daily calories. No exercise either, which didn't help. I'm finding things are getting better health wise with the dietary changes and new meds. But there are still some days when I just feel drained. Hopefully my holidays next week will leave me refreshed!

Good to hear things are getting better healthwise. That's funny about the Ben & Jerry's!

Oh rest of the week was a bit disasterous food wise. Am trying to get ready to go and no one else seems to understand that you need to be organized to go on holidays. I actually told Anderson not to bother coming becaus he couldn't make up his mind and I'm fed up. You either want to come or you don't. You aren't even working and you still can't figure out how to manage your time? Please.

I did get to the gym today and increased all my weights because I was ticked-off LOL So it was a great workout. I just might not be able to move tomorrow.

Yup - and I've been so-so on eating while on vacation - we brough cinnamon toast crunch for snacks and I adore them! But I have been out running and following that up with a Nike Training Club 15 minute workout every day I've been in Kimberley so far. With Matt and his friend sleeping in till all hours I have a lot of quiet morning time LOL

Well back at work. :-( LOL

BUT the great news is that I'm down to 137.2 pounds which is two pounds lighter than when I WENT on vacation! Whoo hoo!! I went back through my journals, and I'm actually down 12 pounds since the beginning of the year - which I started at an all time high of 149.2. So I'm pretty happy! Unfortunately I think it was doing the workout in the morning before breakfast, so I'm going to give that a go at home.

I've also planned out my menu for the next week trying to keep a good dose of protein at every meal and snack. So hopefully I can get that scale down to 135 in the next few weeks!

How FREAKIN great is that Miranda? You LOST weight on vacation?!?!? You're a rock star in my book! A 12 pound weight loss this year is sooooooo awesome!

I'm going to retry adding in some morning workouts too this week! Good luck to us both with that!

Okay, I'm actually doing really well this week! Vanessa, I ADORE the Nike Training Club app - because even if I wake up late, I can make myself do one of the 15 minute "get focussed" routines and still get my heart pumping and get out of the house on time. We've had a few rainy mornings, so no a.m. run this week, but I did get out for a lunchtime run yesterday.

My week's menu (which I've followed 100% so far. Okay. It's only Wednesday, but still!) is:

Breakfast: Soy Berry Smoothie with protein powder
AM Snack: hard boiled egg, plain oatmeal
Lunch: Salmon, tuna, or Sardines & Salad with dressing
PM Snack: 20 almonds, apple
Dinner: whole chicken breast, brown or red rice, brocolli or other mixed veggies, glass of wine)
Dessert: Strawberries & Yoplait dessert yogurt

My calories end up being around 1,600 (well that includes the glass of wine I've been having too, LOL). And I feel totally satisfied throughout the day. We'll see if it makes a difference when I'm finished the week with the regular exercise.
