Erin I went to the website you suggested. I now have an idea of what I should and shouldn't eat. Hope I don't get on everyones nerves with lots of questions. Sooo.......fruits are good but bananas are not? I mainly cook with olive oil because dh has high cholesteral, skinless chicken breast, ground chuck, lean meats ect. I only have 1/2 hour lunch and 10 min break about 3:00, by then I'm dragging and not hungry. My beverage of choice is black coffee. I am addicted to the caffein. Since I am not used to eating on my break, it will be hard to remember to snack on something. I am having a hard time thinking that eating more will help me weigh less, I'm an "old dog" and it's hard to change.............

Yay! I love bananas too and I didn't want to give them up, and they do help with muscle spasms. I already don't buy grapefruits even though I really like them too, but dh can't eat them b/c they interfere with his meds, and he really likes them too so I don't want to be mean and get one for myself. But.....I have thought of sneaking one or two to work and eating them there. I have been snacking on almonds, they are the "junk food" around here, and they do help keep his choleresteral in check. He's one of the "lucky" people whose body manufactures it, it's heriditary. So you see why I am so frustrated with my weight. i am cooking and eating healthy, I even use a lunch plate instead of a dinner plate most of the time. I will admit I don't down glasses of water, could that be part of the problem?

I agree with Erin- moderation is key!  I love bananas too so I have one per day.  I have to limit them too as I'd have more than one per day if I let myself!

I love almonds as a snack.  The dry roasted almonds are the best!  I, too, have a banana each morning.  I do it because I started getting foot cramps while exercising and I read that a lack of potassium was the most likely culprit (it appears to be true).

Hi Kathy!

Everything is ok in moderation, honestly. I did Weight Watchers a few months ago (failed miserably at it, lol!) and they have 0 points for fruit—however, that's within reason. It's one of the reasons I like counting calories, because regardless of what you're eating, 100 calories is 100 calories. ;) I don't want false hope that I can eat a million bananas and not gain weight. A medium to large banana has anywhere from 100-125 calories. I'm supposed to eat a banana a day because of my blood pressure meds. But I absolutely LOVE bananas and can eat a ton of them. :/ So, I have to stay away from as much as possible. I can eat one or two but one a day, I'll get addicted! LOL

In the afternoon, since you don't really like to eat, I'd just eat some almonds. They're high in protein and contain the 'good' fat.
