Aw Carol, so you are lacking motivation? Don't worry,we all slip sometimes. You did so good in the past, so you know you can do it again. I only hope this lack of motivation is not cuased by any physical pain? Are you feeling alright physicaliy?

I read in an old thread that you like to watch "Biggest loser'. The new season is starting on 20th of this month. May be watching that again will bring you motivation back. You can also sign up for their news letter. They are full of good info and pretty motivating.

I'm sure you'll be back on the track soon.

I'm so happy that you're back Carol ! Getting back to a healthy life does make you feel good, doesn't it? Oh, I can totally understand what you mean (knowing you can't have something has a way of making you want it more! ). It's a good idea to cut them all off . May be you'll be used to it in a few weeks. But tell me one thing, are you not allowed to eat even complex carbs? I heard that a totally no carb diet can cause low energy level.

Oh, I agree with you on the arthritis-exercise thing. A few months ago I was told that I have osteo arthritis on my knees (yikes!!). Then I read a lot about it, and found that exercise is actually good for it. Losing just a pound of weight can take 10 pounds of pressure off your knees! You only have to be careful that you don't put too much strain on the affected area.
A few X-rays and MRIs later it was found that I don't have OA, but my knee caps are tilted laterally ! I don't know it's better or worse than having OA, but it surely IS painful :(.

I wear an elastic knee brace when I exercise.

Wow, you're doing great ! Keep it up.

yeah, I use those knee braces too, they do help. I don't know how I got my knee caps tilted, my orthopedic said it's got nothing to do with that accident ! I had to take 3 weeks of physical therapy. Now I'm doing those PT exercises at home. I hope that'll help too.

My weight hasn't changed much in the past few months.  I'm staying under 200, but that's not good enough.  I still have a good bit to lose.  I joined Weight Watchers and had my first weigh-in.  Lost 5 lbs.  So far I have been able to stay within my daily points values.  I figured it out and I'm eating around 1500 calories per day.  When I'm tempted to eat something I shouldn't I keep in mind that I have to add in the points value for that food, and I either pass on it, or choose something with a lower point value.  It's basically the same as calorie counting.  But if something is helping me, I'll do it, as long as it's healthy eating.  After I finish the first month I am going to quit the meetings and try to do it on my own.  It's very expensive, hard on my social security check!  LOL  I would be very happy to be down to 175 by Christmas.

You can do it Carol!!

Once you have the math from WW the rest is about support and accountability.  We can help with that! Glad to see you're making progress and keeping up!

Second weigh-in today and I lost 2 more lbs. I am amazed that it's working for me when it didn't work the first 2 times I joined. I guess I wasn't in the right mindset. Part of the reason I'm so determined is that my husband will be thinking "I told you" and I don't want that. I CAN!
