Re-introducing myself...

Hi.  I used to post here and then fell out of the habit.  My board (Young Adult Fiction) is like a ghost town, so I thought I'd drop in here and chat with you guys.

I'm Shellie and I had gastric bypass in January of 2010.  I almost made my goal (150 lbs) at a little over a year out then I began regaining.  A little bit here and a little bit there-until I had gained 20 pounds.  So, here I sit at 170.  I know what I need to do- lay off the carbs and start exercising.  I'm hoping that by becoming more accountable I can jump start my weight loss again-or at least not gain anymore.

I knew I recognized your id but couldn't quite place your story!!

It has been quieter here recently as well but Pat and I still post almost daily and there are a few others who pop in and out!

What kind of accountability are you looking for??

I'm 3 yrs out as well lap RNY--my lowest weight was 138 and I was maintaining between 142-147 for a year and then I got pregnant.  I'm 33 weeks along now and current weight is 183--so I know after the baby comes I will probably have a few pounds to take off--my 2nd trimester eating was out of control but have been doing much better 3 rd trimester and gaining slowly at this point.  I'm still doing a protein shake or bar for breakfast every morning and then typically 3 meals.  I am eating more sweets than pre-pregnancy but have a grip on it most of the time.  I haven't been exercising at all--due to my advanced maternal age (40) OB didn't want my heart rate above 130 so between that excuse and a lot of pregnancy related lethargy I stopped exercising.

First of all- congrats on your pregnancy! As far as accountability, I was thinking that I might start posting what I've been eating. Exercise, too. I thought I might enjoy exercising more once I lost weight- turns out I still don't like it ;)

Yes, what I determined is that I still don't like exercise, but I do like how I feel from exercise!!! So I just learned to schedule it and do a variety of things--weight training, swimming, running, spin class, etc.
