I did a little bit of decluttering...

We're having plaster work done on some of the walls in our house, incuding the master bedroom, so we had to move out of that room. While packing up I was able to get rid of some stuff either to the trash or into a bag for charity. I also found permanent homes for some stuff that had been sitting on my dresser. When we move back into the room my dresser should look a lot less cluttered than before.

The bad news is that the boxes of books etc from that room are now piled in my office and its back to looking like a disaster again. I had cleared it up in July and kept it looking good for a while but gradually its been slipping back into a clutter zone. I'm having trouble finding the motivation to work on it. It drives me crazy to see it but its kind of overwhelming to think of dealing with it! Also its still hot here and I usually need the fan blowing to be in my office, but that makes it hard to work on the papers because the fan blows them around (right now I have them anchored by heavier clutter LOL). There's always some excuse isn't there? :smileywink: :smileyembarrassed:

Sometimes it does seem that way...:smileywink:...

My ds and I moved so we are trying to stay on top of things...

It was hard packing etc. because of the heat and humidity.

Over the weekend I worked on the paper clutter. I put the fan on the floor so it blows on my legs but doesn't stir the papers. I made a little headway...I filled the 13 gal recycling wastebasket twice but there's still a lot more. There was one bag from the July Stash and Dash that I wasn't able to get rid of anything from it. It is all stuff that I think I need to keep but don't know where to put the different papers. I tried working on it for a few minutes and saw that it was going to be a problem, so I set it aside and worked on something that I knew I could make some headway. I guess I'll leave that one bag until later, maybe as I go through other stuff I'll figure out what to do with the keeper papers. I don't want to get hung up on this one small bag, instead of purging other stuff.

Paper seems never-ending...:smileywink:...I do that to, go on to something else.

I did some de-cluttering in my room tonight after I had a shower.

It wasn't really too bad but I let it slide yesterday...lazy day for me wasn't feeling well.

So I sorted laundry and tidied my room including my dresser and floor beside my bed.

Left some books etc. and put them away, it feels good.

Just made myself a cup of decaf tea and watching a fav tv show.

Then I will sweep my floor before relaxing the rest of the night.

Since we moved I am finding it much easier in our new place, so is my ds.

The good thing about moving is that not only do we purge stuff before the move, but then when we unpack we tend to not put out clutter! So its easier to stay on top of keeping things tidy.

In my case it can just stay in boxes indefinitely (that's what a bunch of my paper clutter is, stuff that got boxed up when we remodeled 3 years ago :smileyembarrassed: and boxes were piled in a closet). It sounds like you maybe got rid of most of the clutter instead of moving it. Good job on doing a little each night and trying to keep places like your dresser from becoming a hot spot.

If you packed stuff in boxes 3 years ago, and have not 'needed' it, would you be able to just get rid of the boxes without going through them? Years ago, when we moved there were boxes put in the basement. One day I was down there, and a mouse ran across the floor. I screamed, though I was the only one here and thought how dumb that was, but later, I just had my dh get rid of the boxes that the mouse/mice had been in.. Honestly, never missed anything.

I honestly don't remember most of what's in them, so good point that I may not need it anymore! I do know that its mostly office-related so I probably need to at least check that there's nothing sensitive like with signatures or account numbers etc.

So sorry that I did not respond to this sooner...

Thanks!

Love the shiny sink, it makes me feel really good.

I don't want ANY hot spots...:smileywink:...

In fifteen minutes you can actually accomplish a lot...:smileyhappy:...

We are keeping on top of things and I am doing really well not bringing "Anything" in...

It takes time, and a whole lot of discipline but we can do it!
