I haven't been around these past few days because I had a slight water problem in my basement...

I was doing some laundry and noticed the floor was wet and did a little investigating and pulled things out of the wet areas and couldn't find much wrong (this was on Saturday).

Fast forward to Monday night. More water. So I had my youngest dd grab me some dirty bath towels and I put them on the floor thinking that would take care of the situation...WRONG!!! The short version is that a 'flare' on the hot water plumbing to my washer had a complete crack in it and was leaking bad! Thanks to the help of my neighbor (yes, I COULD have done it myself) and 3 trips to town (if only they had given the right part the first time!) I now have it fixed. I used the neighbors long handled squeegy to pull water over to a drain and my floor is now basically dry. I do have some moveable shelves I have to take the stuff off of because some water went underneath there but I will deal with that later.

The one up side is that I am throwing stuff away. Washing other things that I plan to give away and am slowly making some progress. I looked through some of the clear storage boxes on the shelves and saw what was in them and have been making sure that they have lids and even took some tape and marked them. (Can't find the label maker and I'm not going to waste expensive label tape especially when I am going to sort through the boxes and organize those further down the road).

Right now the basement is all about the decluttering. It did make me mad when I realized that some of the things I was throwing away were sacks of garbage that needed to be taken out months ago! It felt so good to finally get rid of it and let it go!

Can't wait to get down there are start doing more!

Oh my goodness. What a pain! I'm so glad that you were able to get it taken care of fairly quickly. And yay for the chance to get some organizing done. Silver linings, right?
