Have you ever used a bidet?

This article had me laughing:

Toilet Paper or Bidet? The Dirty Facts.
http://www.newsweek.com/id/212145?from=rss

"The average American uses 57 sheets of toilet paper a day; collectively, we burn through 36.5 billion rolls each year. Tossing all the TP in America would save 15 million trees, 17.3 terawatts of electricity, and more than 473 billion gallons of water annually..."

Using TP is obviously a habit that is ingrained in most of us, but I'm warming up to this idea more and more. DH and I used them when we were in Thailand. Actually it wasn't really a traditional looking bidet, but more of a hose w/ a sprayer on the end. Hey, if there's no TP, you do what you have to do!

We use reusable wipes. I cut up some old blankets and we just wash them just like we washed the wipes and diapers for the kids. I prefer TP after I peed 'cause I don't like that "wet" feeling, but nothing beats a nice soft wipe on the other side. ;)

I'm with the others- I don't like the "wet" feeling. But I'd use one!

Can I have a hair dryer to go with my bidet? Or wait...maybe I should call it a bidet bum dryer = a bi-dryer? ;P

Julianna that is awesome! Good for you!

I don't think my family would go for that, but I've really been thinking about it - at least for pee.

LMBO Tasha! If I had one of those I might never leave the bathroom. It's so cold in my house right now I'd be pulling my laptop in the bathroom to sit and warm my bum. Hee hee

My hometown friends say it's snowing where you are.

Ok, rub it in with your 80 degree day. At present there is four inches on the ground and still snowing. I am sure considerable more on the mountain. Have used the shut-in time to think of some ways to be greener during toilet visits that I wanted to run by all you ladies.

I grew up in the foothills of Colorado so I can certainly sympathize with cold and snow (especially this early in the season!).

It is finally a little warmer here today Tasha. The weekend was pretty cold and snowy but I'm sitting outside with the laptop right now trying to soak in a few minutes of sun. (Of course I have on a fleece jacket, so it's not THAT warm.)
