I found this article fascinating (because I'm a big dork like that!).

Earth could plunge into sudden ice-age~

While I believe whole-heartedly that the global warming we fear today is caused by how we have treated the earth since the industerial revolution, I do also believe that the earth's climate did change naturally before that as the world evolved.

It's interesting to see what the scientist in the article learned about past ice age and how a meltdown could actually cause another one.

wow, that's kinda scary! It makes perfect sense to me. I never bought into "global warming". I think we're just coming out of our last ice age. So if we keep getting warmer the ice cap could melt quickly.

You know, I'm not even sure how I feel about it any more. Like you, I think that the climate is constantly changing. Not quickly, but we can see over millions of years (before humans) how the climate changed.

Now I definitely believe that we (since the Industrial Revolution) have been causing it to change more rapidly. And I still think that we need to cut back our carbon emissions and be kinder to the earth in general due to more short term ("short term" being relative here when you're comparing 100 years to another million years) health factors and resource shortages.

So, yes, I think that the earth would be warming, or the climate cycling, even without us, but I think it would have taken a lot lot lot longer.

BTW - I'm not a big debator - maybe because I'm too interested in all different theories - but I'd love to hear others' opinions or theories on this!
