Oh so happy to find this board!

I'm Brenda and I have 6 kids, 2 dogs, and a husband. We live in NYC and I have been looking for ways to both cut our household cleaning costs and live healthier. Here are the things I have started doing recently and I am adding on as I learn:

We eat almost all organic foods.

I started "no-pooing" my hair using baking soda for scalp and diluted apple cider vinegar for the ends.

I switched to cleaning the house and laundry with Charlie's Soap.

My twin babies are cloth diapered and breastfed.

I know I have a long way to go but I am having fun learning.

Merry Christmas!

Welcome to the board. I am Terri with DH, DS(10) and DD(5) plus 3 dogs:) It sounds like you are off to a great start! You'll get a lot of useful info from this board to add to what you are already doing... Post often!

Hi Brenda! Welcome to the board. I'm glad you found us. Your girls sure are cuties!

I'm Kellie and I live in the mountains of Colorado w/ DH and our 3 kids...oh, and my MIL lives with us too...loads of fun.

How is the no poo going for you? I tried it for awhile but it was kind of a pain. My hair is long, thick and curly though, so that could be why. I just started using a shampoo bar instead.

Anyhoo...jump right in, I look forward to getting to know you! :@)

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Kellie the no-pooing is ok I'd say. I am looking for another option though because my kids say my head stinks even right after a shower:(

I just found a skin soap bar made from virgin olive oil. I'm going to try that and if you have any suggestions for a healthy natural type of shampoo let me know:)

LOL on the MIL fun! I thank God all the time that mine loves across the ocean.

Be sure and let me know how the bar works out for you. I started on the Burt's Bees shampoo bar this week and hated it. I went back to the website again to see that it's recommended for short to medium length hair. I have a bar of Dr. Bronners that I'm going to start using tomorrow. We'll see!
