My first toilet pull

Hi there,

I'm doing my first toilet pull an reset on a job of my own.

Its on concrete with ceramic tile flooring. I tore out glue down carpet that was not under
the toilet. Should I use a regular wax ring a XL ring with a regular on top or I hear people use rubber rings on concrete.
When I pulled it it had a regular wax ring that was old and they had a small leak. Thanks for any help

Hi, Adamconant, and welcome to Decorating & Home Improvement. Hope we can help you out here...

I have never had to do a toilet pull from a concrete floor before (although my DH has --- in our house in CA --- he's not here at present and I can't ask him what he did, but I seem to remember wax seals there... How the toilet was set into the seal was the critical thing.). Anyway, all our floors here are wooden and use the wax seals.

eHow talks you though using a wax ring: http://www.ehow.com/how_6131005_install-toilet-ring-concrete-slab.html The kind of wax seal to use depends on the floor and the toilet and I am no plumber so I'm not competant to advise you; However, on this forum: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_correct_wax_seal_for_a_toilet_flange_that_is_flush_with_the_floor there is some discussion on how to use wax seals on toilets set flush (no pun intended) with the floor ...

I'll ask around --- perhaps one of DH's plumber friends can give some advice here...

Hi Adam. How did your project turn out? I was also curious as to what ceramic tile pattern you have.
