Pantone has selected their color for the year 2013. It's EMERALD! https://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21055&from=hp
Some have dubbed it the "color of prosperity". here's hoping!
I was just thinking about adding some turquoise, but I see now I'm horribly outdated as that was the color of the year in 2010. Guess I should pay more attention to these things. I'm not sure I like emerald so much, but I could sure use some prosperity!
Hey, if turquoise is you r color, go with it. I don't think we should be dictated to by a color chart company, do you? Especially if you aren't a fan of emerald! But it is fun to see how they use the color.
By the way, here are some "emerald" finds for decorating that iVIllage has discovered... and look at how well some of those greens would "go" with turquoise!

I have a new jacket that color green that I'll be wearing to church this Sunday being that it is St. Pat's Day. It'll be fun to wear being that it is new and that green is my favorite color, but I wouldn't want to use that particular shade of geen to decorate my house with.
I know what you mean --- it is a pretty ovewhelming color in quantity, IMO. As accents, however, perhaps with pops of orange or coral or yellow, though...
