Someplace in this board is a thread on emergency preparedness (I don't feel like searching for it at the moment --- maybe I'll come back later with a link), but I don't think we've ever done anything about post-natural disaster clean-up. If we are all truly lucky, we will live our lives out free of the damage caused by hurricanes, tornados, flood, earthquakes, wildfires, etc., but in the event... here are Bob Villa's tips for post-hurricane clean-up (man of which would apply to most any natural disaster):

Bob's 12 Hurricane Sandy Cleanup Tips

Hurricane Sandy brought an assault of historic proportions to some 50 million homeowners in the Northeast this week. For those in its path, flooded basements will need to be dried out, broken windows repaired or replaced, and trees trimmed o r removed entirely. The storm, which carried such strong winds, may have compromised your roof, leaving missing or loose shingles (or far worse damage). If you are among the many homeowners involved in cleanup, Bob Vila's 12 Post-Sandy Cleanup Tips should come in handy.
