I don't know about you but whenever I watch one of the home-buying programs on cable, I am always wondering just how many of those people who say a little bay window or a balcny is the perfect place to read a book actually READ a book there once they buy the home! (for that matter, I tend to question whether any of the persons speaking actaully read at all, but that's beside the point).

Reading requires a certain kind of atmosphere in my opinion. Not just quiet and the right lighting, but comfort. So the trick to creating a reading nook, IMO, is to establish all three of these elements in a simple space with plenty of room to stack books in progress and a table (or other flat surface) to hold your cup of tea (or coffee -- or soft drink or...) and a snack (preferably chocolate).

What do you think?
