We often post trends here, like the thread for 2103 decorating trends...

But one needs to be VERY careful with trends. What is classy today can be gawawful tomorrow! For example...

Popcorn Ceilings, Pink Bathrooms and 8 More of the Worst Decor Trends. Ever.

Just try to look away from these interior decorating train wrecks

And I hate to admit it but this house we now own is LOADED with shiny brass fixtures --- door handles, chandeliers and ceiling fans, bathroom faucets (in only some of the bathrooms, thank goodness), kitchen cabinet handles, etc. It would cost a small FORTUNE to replace them all...

And there are a few silk plant arrangements scattered about. I justify this because the house is basically too dark in the living room and dining room for live plants to survive. Besides, I have a black thumb when it comes to house plants. And teh arrangements we do have a very expensive and relatively tasteful (and a whole lot better than another nasty trend, IMO: dried flower arrangements!Foot in Mouth)...

Luckily, we have avoided the rest of this list. How about you?

P.S. I wonder why wallpaper avoided this list. I can't abide wallpaper!

My parents have most of those trends in their house!  The blue plastic bathtub, the faux wood paneling, I remember both sets of grandparents having the mirrored walls also!! I had to strip 3 layers of 70's floral wallpaper off the kitchen walls when I lived in a condo and swore I would never do wallpaper EVER!

We have a newer house, its less than 20 years old and the last person who owned it was a flipper, so they redid quite a bit of stuff luckily.  However i am in the middle of getting all the bathroom acessories to match, we have half silver, half brassy gold.  I tend to stay with pretty classic designs and just add accents in to changes to make them more trendy if I want them to be.
