Michelle,

Has your DH continued to look for government jobs where veterans have a preference for employment?

Are there any other related fields that he likes? My DH was very interested in being in a police officer but there were certain parts of the job he didn't like...he ended up choosing to be a correctional officer instead. He likes the idea of actually trying to help ppl turn their life around.

Not to say your DH will want to a correctional officer, LOL. But there may be other law enforcement jobs that interest him - court officers (we call them sheriffs here, but I believe sheriffs are like police in the states?), by-law officers, inspectors (commercial vehicles or something like that - not an english detective, haha)...

Sorry I didn't get back to this one earlier. I don't know if the 20% would still be required with a co-signor, but I think they are starting to get pretty straight across the board wtih 20% down for anyone, but i could be wrong. Has he looked at going back to school using the GI bill, that way he could even work part time and go to school full time and receive the stipends and BAH while he's in school to look into a different career path? Dee had some good suggestions, to look into also. Hugs, the transition out of the military WRT jobs is sometimes the hardest. We were lucky, DH was a combat medic and although he liked the medical field, it was either start back to school and get a degree, which he thought about doing, or go back to the line of work he did before entering they army. That has provided us, along with my income, a pretty good income. Let us know if there is more we can try to help with!!
