Debt Management Programs - help / advice

Do any of you lovely people have experience with debt management programs? I contacted one, Care One Credit, and it seems like they can help. I'm afraid of being taken for a scam. I've done some reasearch online and they seem reputable, but I have a hard time trusting everything I see online LOL. Any thoughts, recommendations or advice?
Hi Overit2007,
While I don't have any info on Care One Credit, I'm sure if you ask in the Debt Discussions board the folks over there will be able to advise you.
Hopefully by now, you have made a decision to do something and that it's turned out to be the right organization. I don't know about the organization you mentioned but I know great things about the already mentioned Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) who I believe have a new name now. When in doubt on the legitimacy of a debt management program, check out www.nfcc.org, the organization that controls DMPS. You are right to be leary. There are a lot of scams out there so research is the key. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
