Hi all,

I am just checking in to say hi. I got back from an amazing vacation in Ireland! It was absolutely stunning and I certainly got bitten by the travel bug! I was keeping it together as far as spending goes, until our flight got cancelled because of a hurricane that his the east coast of Canada (where we were supposed to connect). I had to pay $750 for a flight home that I wasn't expecting :( The good news is that I got credited for the flight so my next vacation will be a heck of a lot cheaper because the flight is paid for :)

Sadly when I came back I got very sick with bronchitis and an upper respiratory tract infection. Its been two weeks and I'm just starting to feel better (it took three doctor visits, one emergency room visit, antibiotics and inhalers!). During this time I was off work and eating out almost every stinking day!

So now I am feeling better and am going to try and get back to the gym tomorrow (even if I can only do a warm up I'm okay with it). I made a bean salad and boiled some eggs for lunches this week so that I have healthy choices and I am not tempted to use the cafeteria. More importantly I won't be tempted to eat out and will eat at home instead!

Finally I'm trying to get the last of my LOC paid off. I only have $700 left on it and part of me wants to just clear out the efund and pay it off, but I am waiting. I will have it paid off in 10 days regardless so there is no point in clearing out the efund.

So all in all things are going really well. Life is good and I can't wait to post back here and tell you all that I am once again debt free!

Oh my, oh my, and yea!

Glad you are feeling better, that kind of "sick" is horrible and potentially dangereous.  Glad you kept going in.

Not that it matters, but I am curious about the $750 flight.  A little confused on that one.

So glad you had a great vacation and can't wait to hear all your consumer debt is gone!  (is that right, all you will have left is condo mortgages?)

LOL sorry, I forgot that this wouldn't make sense to most people :) We flew with a Canadian airline that is just knew to the Ireland run so they don't have a lot of flights. When I called on Friday to try and switch to Saturday (because they storm was scheduled for Sunday) I couldn't switch because the flight was full. If we waited until Sunday and the flight was cancelled (which is what happened) then I would be stuck in Ireland until the following Saturday. The other option was to book a one way flight home on another carrier. So I had to pay out of pocket and the Canadian carrier credited back the portion that I didn't use. So between that credit and the points that I have accumulated I have $1000 in flight and or vacation credits. Its annoying having to pay that $750 out of pocket but in the long run it was cheaper than staying in Dublin for another week!

Sorry to hear you got sick, but I hope the memories of your wonderful trip will balance it out. The airfare situation sounds quite dreadful!

Good to hear you are staying out of debt, Bex.  But great to hear about what seemed like a wonderful trip.

I think I would rather eat cheaply and save money to travel.
