As it turned out, I underestimated the amount of work needed to pack my stuff. I was originally going to pack it all myself and save $1,000-$2,000. But it's becoming clear that the week I gave myself just isn't enough to get it done. I'm still sorting through stuff, and much of the place remains unpacked. I am having to hire packers in order to make the move out deadline. I feel like a dummy.

Likewise, I ended up having to rent cars so often that I almost should have bought a new car last month.

Don't beat yourself up!  Doing an interstate move is not a daily occurance for most people and you cannot expect to be an expert in something you only do a few times in your life.

Live and learn.  Life would be boring if we did everything perfect the first time.  :)

Also, I discovered it's cheaper to rent a car for a week than for a few days.

I know what you mean about the packing. I have been going through things for quite some time. And packing a little bit here and there. I am sooo glad we don't have a deadline. it is really overwhelming.

It will all be behind you soon. Keep at it.

Thanks for the encouragement! I realized today that the decisions I made weren't terrible. They weren't the best, and in retrospect I would have done things differently. But I can't always get A+. Sometimes we get a C on the first try.
