Hmmmmm it seems to be that time of year for looking forward and, I think, back to see how far you have come!

Lets see how things went for Karen in 2011

1. Business: Start paying down my Business credit line. Last year or maybe the year before it dawned on me that some of my stress was related to having a high credit line so I systematically came up with a plan to reduce it. Before I was just going to throw money at it I realized my land and building loan took a draw from my Business credit line every month and the expenses coming out of it were high as well. So I dropped my health insurance(3600 dollars a year!) and went on my BF's insurance with the kids and paid off that loan to stop some of the bleed. I haven't even used my BF's insurance yet this year! I do have dentist appointments booked though so Kate has me scared out of my mind lol! So along with putting personal flake money into my credit line and and not having these huge expenses so I should start to see some progress this year I hope.

I still believe in the logic behind this. However, I needed a new roof, took the plunge and now have around a $23,000 loan. It does add equity to my business and the loan was

Wow, I don't think I've looked at these all year...but did pretty good on them, even though we didn't quite get all the way there.

Here was 2011:

1. Pay off another $20K in debt.

Everyone did so well! and I love that you are adding yourselves to the list too, it's so important!

My goals for 2011 are: (bear with me, I have a lot, lol)

#1 - pay off my car loan DONE in January. feels great!

#2 - remain credit card debt free DONE

#3 - add add'l savings to the heating fund, the christmas fund, the vacation fund, the home repair fund I added $500 to heating, $1000 to re-establish Christmas, $500 to vacation & $1200 to home repair

#4 - create a new savings for "home improvements". I feel as though I need to set aside money earmarked for fun things for my home, things are aren't a necessity, but would be nice to have, i.e. granite counters. I have to mark it as "okay to spend" lol!!! I saved $5K total, and spent it. It took me a while to get over the guilty feeling, but I just kept telling myself that it was there for that purpose and it's okay once in a while.

# 5 - open high yield savings, set aside $10K for long term savings did this!

# 6 - fully fund ROTH IRA, for 2010 and 2011 $5K for each year 2010 & 2011 are both fully funded!

#7 - create myself or hire a professional to create a will and living revocable trust oh boy. got to get this done

# 8 - once all of the above goals have been accomplished, flake and flake some more to my mortgage! not yet, but still on the radar

and - take a darn vacation! something I haven't done since 2004. well, kinda. I took an extra long weekend in May.

My 2012 Goals are:

#1 Save towards my sinking funds, some of these are already complete. I have already saved $1000 towards heating costs, $500 to vacations, $1,000 to Christmas, $1500 to home repairs.

#2 Save $5,000 again towards home improvements & complete 2 projects, TBD.

#3 Contribute $5,000 towards my Roth IRA for 2012

#4 and then my focus will be on paying down my mortgage. I am so excited to see what I will reduce the principle by, just with flakes. My forecast is $20K.

#5 take care of the will, trust & any other important documents

#6 Again, I would love to take a real vacation. we shall see. My real priority is spending quality time with my family.

"I WILL SURVIVE" - I was so depressed after reading my 2011 goals, that I didn't even bother to copy them and bring them forward.

Karen, thanks for posting these, and Kate, you are right, we need to bring these up at least every quarter so we don't forget our goals.

I don't believe I formally posted goals on here for 2011 however I can recap the successes and shortcomings of 2011:
