Hi there, I'm sorry for your situation...I've never been there, but I do have a huge debt and my way to deal with things has always been facing them and telling the truth.

If you have not yet called them, try doing it now. I don't think that having your phone will be a problem if you are really honest on your situation and explain that you didn't pay because you didn't have the money (or work, or whatever was the reason), but that now you want to face them and want a deal.

If you don't do this, the option might be bankruptcy, and then you will have to deal with it anyways, losing some other things and having to deal with the weight of bankruptcy until is fully cleared.

I'm not sure whether or not they

I think all you do is call them and be honest about what you can pay. Like I said to someone else on here, a paid cc isn't going to help if you can't pay your mortgage.

Legal action would end in either 1. Wage garnishment 2. A lien on your house 3. Actually taken right from your checking account.

I have had all 3 happen to me over the years. How a business can take money right from your account is still beyond me. It was so long ago, I can't remember who I owed money to that would have that kind of authority, court involvement or not. It would depend what the laws are where you live.

Regardless, give them a call. They would eventually get your phone number anyways, just know that often the only way they will negotiate is by taking a set amount out of your account every month.

Just my experience.
