I am making homemade vanilla to give at Christmas time.  But I'm thinking I need something to go with it...some of it I'm giving to my bosses - 5 men...anyway...I've given homemade Irish Cream with a bag of specialty coffee before, homemade chocolates with tangelos in a basket etc

maybe cookie mix in a jar to go with...a vanilla recipe to use the homemade vanilla in...any other ideas?

Thank you.

I was going to say cookies in a jar! I did them last Christmas and everyone loved them! We also made dipped spoons which may go well with the Irish cream. We bought cheap plastic spoons (dollar store) dipped them in melted chocolate chips and then rolled them in crushed candy canes. The dollar store had 100 mini plastic bags that we put over the top and tied with a ribbon! Everyone loved them!

How do you make homemade Irish Cream? What do you store it in?

I think if you are giving to men, I would give them cookies made with some of the vanilla. Even a nice sugar cookie would be a treat and not that expensive to make. For women, a few god recipes..I know that is sexist, and if you know the. Men cook, then go with recipes for them too...but otherwise, I find home made goodies ate much appreciated.

Homemade vanillas are soooo nice, I love them.

I would say make some cookies as well.  If you think the mix will be used and better received then definitely use that instead.  I think the crafter's corner (something like that) has a thread on homemade gifts somewhere.

I too am intrigued by homemade Irish cream.  How does one do that?

Oh, the irish cream was a huge hit & fun to make.  I bought big beer bottles with the red attached flipper tops from a homemade beer & wine supply shop, then made labels & mixed the irish cream in my blender...lots of recipes on line!  It seems like the bottles were a little spendy...this year I purchased the vanilla bottles as recommended by someone on pinterest from the on line supplier "specialtybottle.com".  I bought 14  - 4oz bottles with cap for a total of $26.34 includes shipping.  I will pick up some ribbon & labels for the bottles...

Thanks for the ideas, I think baking some vanilla cookies to go with is a good idea for my bosses.

Happy Christmas Planning everyone!

PS...you must keep the irish cream refrigerated & I put that on the labels as well!
