My March Goals were:

*carefully plan spending from the home improvement fund. we are researching new countertops for our kitchen. this creates more spending for a new sink & faucet. I want to make this fund last. The new coutertops are in & are beautiful. As expected, this also required a new sink & faucet. We still have $1800 in the home improvements fund.

*when the above is complete, figure out what funds are left and plan accordingly & very carefully. We are taking it slow......and carefully planning the spending. There are lots of things we would like to do.

*continue to put every extra dollar into the "reduce mortgage savings account"

My April goals:

  1. 1. I can already feel the itch to spend. I'm making up a list of things I want to buy, and those coupons are so attractive. I need to resist that. I mostly want exercise- or activity-related stuff: jammers for swimming, shorts for working out (except I want these $50 Hurley board shorts), tight Latin pants for dancing.

  2. 2. Snowflake if I can. I am afraid between the incoming medical and dental bills, I'd be lucky if I don't lose the entire sum that I'd normally put towards the snowflake AND my emergency fund. I have a root canal, possibly two coming up. I also have to get a cavity filled. I still need to see an allergist. I'm thinking that it may be worth getting a physical.

  3. 3. Keep at regular life stuff: work, workout, online dating (or more accurately, non-dating)...

I posted to the wrong thread. Below is a listing and then a review of my March goals:

My mortgage refi is going on. . . and on. . . and on. . . but I think it will finally close in April!

I have a date set in April to go see my dad and go through all his accounts and financial matters.

Thanks for posting!

Lets see how March went?

March 2012 Goals:

1. Get a good ways done on the renos and pay in cash.

We have done surprisingly well here. We moved one son down stairs(that room is now built and completed and he is all moved in). We have moved the other son into the first son's room(it is all painted over and he is all moved in), and we are painting the baby's room(from the 2nd son.) All very confusing I know, and I live there. We have abandoned the bathroom downstairs for now. It now has a shower and sink and toilet and is very functional but not completed, by far. Perhaps when things settle down we will get back to it. All cash and paid for so far. Plus we have some things to finish the bathroom downstairs(supplies) but need more time to get to it. We will need other things though like paint ect. I'm pretty happy with the progress so though.

2. Continue to buy things for the baby that we need, pay in cash.

Yes, this is ongoing. We just bought a car seat, a video camera, and a stroller so far this month as well as some small odds and ends like diaper cream and soaps and lotions. I also got a great deal on a diaper bag with a gift certificate that some girlfriends of mine gave me. A good quality bag for not much money thanks to the GC! A few more things checked off my list for sure! All cash!

3. Like everyone else, I need to get my air conditioner looked at, at the store. I hope I don't need a new one. We need a new one at home too but I may wait until April to tackle that .

I did make a call for the store. They said they would come by when the weather is warmer to take a look. I only needed it a day or two, but other wise they have not shown up and I suppose I am procrastinating by not calling again, its just something I know is going to cost a great deal and I just don't need it this second. I have the money, but am having a hard time parting with it! We have been talking about one for home and researching them but have not pulled the trigger on this either.
