and need a much better system for receipts!
I've spent a week in Ottawa doing seminars and interviewing physicians. Next week I am in Vancouver. The week after I'm in Winnipeg, then San Fransisco!!! I have to do my expenses asap so that I can make sure there is enough room on the card for the rest of the travelling. I have had to pay for a lot of things in cash so I have to remember to expense it all.
Anyone have any better suggestions for keeping track of receipts other than stuffing them in my wallet and hoping that I don't lose any? I am travelling so much in the next month that it will be essential that I don't lose any!
No suggestion but I do hope you have a corporate card that you use for business expenses. I have one (rarely used) and it at least helps to keep them separate from personal spending.
I would probably try to get one of those small accordion files for coupons. You could put your receipts for each trip in a different tabbed area. Simple and portable.
Keep a file folder that closes nicely with dividers in it. You can put the numbers in an excel spreadsheet with the subtotal, taxes and real total for whoever you need to hand that into. If you put the category in there too like dining, or hotel, that will help whoever processes the expense cheques and get you brownie points, plus the date of the receipt, what city, basically every detail you can think of. Staple, lable, and email or key card and hand it over. Doing so in a timely fashion will ensure you get your money back. do you get some points for this on your card?
Hi Bex,
Travelling is a double-edged sword.

OMG, I'm so impressed, Kate.
When I travel (not for business, for fun!), I take a small notebook with me that has a pocket in it for receipts.
I am going to look for a little notebook before I head out to Vancouver on Wednesday!
