Christmas in July . . . sort of:)

I had to share with you my happy story. My CC is a no fee CC and it gives me points. Usually 12,500 points = $100 (I can buy gift cards for different things). Well for some reason, they were having a "sale" on Shoppers Drug Mart gift cards, and for 14,0000 points I was able to purchase a $175 gift card.  Shoppers Drug Mart  is a local pharmacy chain that has perfume, cosmetics etc. While they tend to be a bit more pricy, they often have sales that are really cheap.

So the plan is to sock away the gift cards with my stash (I'm terrible for redeeming them) and then using them for stocking stuffers for Christmas! A nice start to the "Christmas" season :)

Thanks for reminding us about points. I know DH has some at his credit union I need to look into.

Good deal! I'm trying to get Hubby to use some of his airline points.

My DH's cc gives him points and every time a holiday comes around I tell him to redeem them so we can use them as gifts and he never does. I need to get on him this weekend to do it for father's day (again). Great idea!

Yay for you! That's so much fun. I also have a no fee cc that gives me points. I keep track of the points and convert them to cash as soon as I can, so I carry a positive balance on the card. Then when I find a really good sale, or deal, I'll use the cash on the card to get something really inexpensively (or usual free). For example, I've just converted my points to $50, and I have a $10 off coupon to use at JCP, so this weekend we'll buy my H a new pair of his favorite Levis (which never, ever go on sale) using the coupon and paying with the cc.
