The Dentist *sigh*

I went to the dentist today for the first time in roughly 3-5 years. I haven't gone in the past because I didn't have insurance or money! I tried over the years to take good care of my teeth at home. My DH and I want to start a family together soon so I figured it was time to really get back into the swing of taking care of my dental health. Unfortunately, even though the dentist said I really have done a great job of taking care of my teeth these past years, I have cavities. :( Multiple cavities. :( The estimated cost? $2,400. :( :( :(

I don't know what to do. I obviously can't pay to have them done anytime soon. At the same time we also have xray and physical therapy bills for my DH's ankle that he sprained 6 months ago but only recently went to the doctor for because he's now on my insurance. Plus, we need to send more $ to his 2 children from a previous marriage because their mom's insurance costs are steadily rising. Then there's the holidays ... and we'd love to have a baby.

We are making it, we have food on the table, we stick to our budget, we pay the bills. Debt payoff is just sooooo slow. We have tax debt, student loan debt and small amount of credit card debt. I have my baby e-fund saved up, but some days I am so tempted to withdraw that money and sent it off to one of the debts - but it wouldn't make that great of an impact.

Blah, just feeling whiny and defeated. I'm also trying really hard lately to get a new, better paying job. It's tough.

Sorry I haven't posted much recently, but I do read every single day so thanks to those who do post!

I hope I didn't accidentally start any kind of debate! :) lol

Thanks all for your responses. I'm a little less bummed out today, I know I just need to suck it up, figure it out, save up money and get it done! I'm inspired by the fact that all of you have done this many times - for kids, medical bills, pet emergencies, car emergencies, work on houses and businesses, and more! If you can do it I can do it.

It is really important to me to take care of my health - for myself, for my new husband, and for our future family. I need to find out what % my dental insurance will cover (I've heard not much), and I need to find out the payment plan options with my dentist. Then I need to get it all started ASAP before anything gets worse! You can bet I was flossing and brushing and rinsing my little heart out last night!

To further complicate matters (such is life) there is a chance I could be pregnant now; if so, all dental work would have to wait until the first trimester ended. I can't test to know for sure until Dec. 1st. To be perfectly honest, I'm hoping I'm not just yet. Another month or two to sort these things out would be great. I'll call the dentist Monday. This weekend I need to grocery shop so I'll inform my DH it will be a bare bones week as we need to take care of all this medical stuff!
