I remember Norma mentioning she is doing the dollar per week in a jar challenge.  I am doing it also, is anyone else on the board doing it?  How's it going so far into week 8 of the year?

Question for you regarding the final payments at the Trustee's office.  I owe $234.  They paid out the usual fund on 2/12 to everyone but then they paid out again yesterday 2/26.  However, they did NOT clear out the Trustee's fee.  Her balance is still $877.  All that is left are the unsecured creditors and the trustee.   I guess I assumed the Trustee got paid in full, but is she considered unsecured and only gets a certain percentage????  We have paid back around 88% of the balance due, with I hear is a great amount considering that most pay around 50% of their debt.

Do you remember how long it took for them to discharge your case???  I am assuming we keep sending my checks to the Trustee until they release it, correct?

Thanks,

Norma

I am doing it too! Through this layoff, loss of unemployment and broke as all get out, I have not yet waivered. I am trying my hardest to stick with this, no excuses!!! I suck at saving money, mainly because, while I am not a spendthrift, I am a mom, and there is always something we need. Socks, shoes, household needs (tp, toothpaste, laundry soap), etc are always somewhere in the back of my mind. So having a stash of money never seems to work out for too long because some need comes up that is greater than the need for a small stash of cash. This time, I am going to succeed. I have resisted putting in extra because I don't want to get ahead of myself and then realizing that I needed that extra somewhere and using that as excuse to pull money back out. I am following the plan exactly. I am very proud of my progress!

I did that for the first time this week, I went ahead and got $20 out from groceries for week 9, and instead of putting it in my purse, I left the $2 separate for a start on week 10. I am hoping that eventually this will be our disney trip money, but we'll see. I am putting in the double amounts every week since we are both working. Its not too hard now, but I have a feeling come September it'll be a lot harder to do.

I put week 8 in Saturday, so I'm right on schedule.  I meant to put in next week too, but I was a little tight on money.  Some weeks I pay ahead.  Some weeks I throw in an extra dollar or two.  I'm proud I've been able to stay on track.
