Frugal on a diet?

So, in addition to paying down debt, I'd really like to lose about 35-40lbs. My problem is that I don't always do well when I'm trying to juggle too many things. I often feel like weight loss and debt repayment are easier to do when I focus on just one of them at a time. Unfortunately, I really shouldn't put either of them off and I need to find a way to make them both work?
So - to those of you doing both...how do you do it? And do you find that eating healthy can be just as frugal? How do you plan your meals? Does your family eat the same foods you do?

Such a good question!
First, being physcially active is going to help your overall well being.
I think eating healthfully is much more frugal than eating any other way.
I think that it is wonderful M was able to eat healthy and within a tight budget. I think if it is something you start when your kids are little, it is probably easier to do.
I have tried to stop buying junk (not that I ever purchased that much to begin with) but have found that a 17 year old boy is not very prone to that drastic of a change in his diet. My DD11 is a little better about it. And then there is my SO. He is not against eating healthy, but he has some vices that he is not willing to budge on. Admitedly, I have my own, too.
So, although I wish I could just buy certain things and make everyone just "deal with it," I have found I have had to concede on a few things. And the rest like I already said, I sort of sneak into my recipies. I also try to always keep fresh fruit that everyone will actually eat.
When I try to just buy certain things hoping to sort of force everyone to eat it too, I have found that I am the only one eating it and I end up having to throw half of it away.
Point of all that is you will have to play around with what works for your family. (i.e. Fruit and yogurt may be a great desert, but if a teenage boy can eat a quart at one sitting, you will not save any money.)
I use the free web site called:
caloriecount.com
I track my foods and activity there.

I too, found that refreshing and yet another reason to not get in over our head with living over our means whenever humanly possible.
Dieting on a budget is definitely doable.
What a great question and one I have been struggling with for a LONG time.
