This is an opinion piece from the NY Times.

I am really annoyed with this article. It makes my generation seem like a lazy, apathetic group of loosers. Their statistics mean very little to me too. Who cares if we chose to use public transit and do not choose to pursue

Well said, Kate. As much as I hate to admit it. :)

My dad tries the "when I was growing up" with my kids and when you skip a generation, it really doesn't fly at all. My dads raising is so far removed from my kids experience that my mom had had to remind my dad "no...they really DON'T get it." They have nothing to liken it to.

I still think we can learn a lot of great lessons and character building from past generations. Sure, technology has changed many things, and there are laws in place now that didn't exist 50 years ago, but the root principles are still there.

I was watching a show on History and essentially life as we know it is cyclical and eventually we may very well be living more like Little House on the Prairie again. No wonder there are people learning how to live off of the grid.

I am not ready to give up the internet just yet, but does you make you think about our dependence on so many things.

Yes i agree we mis a lot of things from past generations things like common courtesy for one. The main problem is that a lot of folks think they are entitled to thing and dont have to work for them.
