Very sad and somewhat shady that your boss brought this person in. And some of the "impulse buying" was probably because the boss was sponsoring it and they were afraid not to look like a "team player" if they didn't! My late FIL used to go on these Slimfast diets every now and then. He'd lose a bunch of weight but once he stopped the shakes the weight would always come back.
I am the CL of another board, but wanted to welcome you and offer a reminder to read each Board description before posting.
I hope you introduce yourself (if you haven't already) in the Introductions section and let us know where you are in your debt repayment journey.
Oh dear . . . it sounds like you might be one of the ones who bought into the scam.
There will always be "quick fix" people out there. I can assume it would be the same person that wants to lose weight quickly or easily would like to get out debt the same way. Some just don't want to put in the work.
I do think it was strange to have that at work. Awkward. Good for you for resisting!
I am also suprised your boss brought in something like this to the work place?
I'm a little appalled that your company (which is dealing with budget freezes and pay cuts) catered a lunch to have you guys sit through a sales pitch.
I have been guilty of impulse buys in the past but thankfull I rarely do it anymore.
