I just wanted to update everyone with my job status and such, just because we keep hearing on the news that there are so many unemployed out there.

I am sorry if you feel that way Kelly, maybe it is more her use of her skills and how she is selling herself?

Without going into too much detail, all my income IS profit, not wages, and is filed via K1s, not a W2.

"Pure plain reality of life these days. Jobs are given to younger people when 200 resumes are accepted.."

This has been my experience, not that it's happened to me personally, but I've seen it happen too many times to count, with friends, co-workers and old friends who live in different cities.

That is what I agree with no matter what everyone else says.. I think the only company that was hiring for over 55 was TAco Bell and you have to stand on your feet all day. Now what older person can do that? Makes no sense.

Most people are going to live with their families as I am but I do not like it one bit.. Thank goodness I have that and a pension stipend and savings but not enough to get my own place. This has been the most frustrating and trying time of life..

If an employer is looking for manual labor, it is true that they prefer younger people who could stand on their feet all day and lift heavy items.

I'm not addressing anyone in particular...

Many of us are going through a stressful time, even if we are seeing success. Naturally, it's worse when we are struggling to find any form of employment, much less a job that will do justice to our qualifications. What's more, we each have unique circumstances that may not conform to statistics. I hope that we'll remember this both in making statements and in reacting to statements. People may just be very stressed. This issue of employment can get to people easily, and a light touch and some sympathy will go farther.

Agreed I found that comment harsh/insulting as well and just uncessary.
